Syttende Mai and Norwegian Poetry

Syttende Mai (or the 17th of May) marks Norway’s declaration of independence and is a celebration of the 1814 signing of Norway’s constitution and independence from Sweden.

The Almost Uptown Poetry Cartel will
honor Syttende Mai with a reading of
Norwegian verse May 16, 2019 at
its weekly poetry reading series, Poetry
Thursdays, at the Midtown Scholar Bookstore.
